Hiking Swiss style, it gives working out a whole new meaning. Imagine the elipticle and stair stepper all in one, add mountains everywhere and sprinkle in a few cows and you have alpine hiking. A life changing experience if there ever was one. We left Murren this morning and took the cable car to Gemmelwald then hiked down the mountain.
In the little village we found someone selling cheese and bought some for later.
The trail started out sweet, nicely paved, and within minutes it became true trekking with narrow stone strewn paths and spectacular views. The trail was marked as 55 minutes which sure makes me wonder about those neat Swiss watches because it took us 3 hours (with a sweet picnic overlooking the mountains and a valley). Of course we were motivated with apple strudel and beer waiting for us at the bottom.
We continued our adventure by riding a funicular to an alpine wildflower hike where we saw edelweiss (see first posted picture). The wildflower watching was followed by hot cocoa and rum and absinthe. As of yet I am not seeing little green fairies!
